SAHIWAL, Sept 22: Kassowal police claimed on Friday to have arrested the ringleader of a gang involved in the kidnap and sale of minor girls.

Reports said about 10 months ago, Muhammad Younas along with his six accomplices — Asghar, Amjad, Rana Irshad and others - had kidnapped Sameena (13) and Robina (11) from their home when kiln worker Sarfraz and his wife had gone to their workplace.

The girls in two cars were shifted to Sindh where they were sold out for Rs50,000 each, told ringleader Younas to the police.

He also confessed kidnap and sale of other minor girls. He told the police that a number of cases were registered against them and they managed to get bails.

A police team has left for Sindh to recover the minor girls of Sarfraz.

POWER THIEVES: Some men on Friday night took away electricity wire near Chak 7/14-L, plunging many villages into darkness. Reports said the accused riding a pickup took away wire, disconnecting power supply to 7/14-L, 5/14-L, 6/14-L, 3/14, 2/14-L and Iqbalnagar villages.

The Multan Electric Power Company has failed to restore supply even after a lapse of 18 hours.
