Three food department officials booked

NAWABSHAH, Sept 22: Three officials of food department were booked by anti-corruption establishment for misappropriation of wheat amounting to Rs7.5 million, here on Saturday.

The three supervisors of the food department Nawabshah, namely Ashiq Jamali, Manzoor Khanzada and Munawar Brohi, were booked under the Section 409 PPC.

Sources in the anti-corruption establishment told Dawn that Ashiq Jamali supervisor at Wer stop food centre embezzled 1,516 wheat bags amounting to Rs2.05 million, Munawar Brohi supervisor at Buchheri food centre embezzled 2,457 wheat bags of Rs3.2 million while Manzoor Khanzada supervisor at Teen Chak food centre misappropriated 1,753 wheat bags amounting to Rs2.3 million.

Circle officer, ACE, Aijaz Abbasi, told reporters that investigation was under way in the embezzlement of wheat bags on a larger scale at food department Nawabshah and his team had already seized the record in a raid few days back.
