KARACHI, Sept 21: In two different incidents on Thursday night, about 7,000 telephones went out of order in Gulistan-i-Jauhar and Clifton.

According to Nafees Siddiqui, EVP Business (South), PTCL, Karachi, cable thieves broke down the seal of a PTCL underground junction near Rado Centre and took away four cables of 1,200 pairs, rendering 4,000 telephone connections in Gulistan-i-Jauhar’s Block 13-20 out of order.

The affected connections start with prefixes 401, 402, 461 and 462.

In another incident, the underground cable network was damaged during the development work being carried out by the KWSB.

The damage resulted in about 2,900 telephones in Clifton’s Block 7 and 8, Delhi Colony, Punjab Colony and P&T Colony going dead.

Mr Siddiqui said repair work was under way and many of the connections had since been restored.—PPI
