PC proposal on LPG prices praised

Published September 19, 2007

LAHORE, Sept 18: The LPG Distributors Association has praised the Planning Commission (PC) for its recommendation that prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) should not be linked with its prices in the international market.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, association chairman Irfan Khokhar and Secretary-General Mozammal Abbasi said LPG was being produced for Rs5 per kg, but it was being sold for Rs51 to Rs70 a kg in various parts of the country because its prices had been linked with the international market.

They said the LPG production cost would come down to Rs17,000 a tonne and Rs35 a kg if the government stops linking its prices with the international market. — Reporter
