LAHORE, Oct 21: The Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA) has criticized the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for allowing Wapda to increase power tariff.
In a statement on Sunday, a PSMA spokesman said the 11-paisa per unit increase would further burden consumers.
The government had not tried to tap cheap resources and did nothing to develop power generation units based on local raw material, he regretted.
The spokesman claimed that the PSMA had suggested to the government to arrange a joint venture between Wapda and the sugar industry for producing 2,500-3,00 megawatt cheap electricity through high pressure technology.
