Three flour sellers get jail

LAHORE, Sept 17: Three men will remain behind the bars for as many days for selling a 20kg flour bag Rs5 more than the price fixed by the City District Government of Lahore (CDGL).

Jamil Butt, M Ijaz and Razzaq Bhatti were caught by DCO Mian Ijaz and Executive District Officer (revenue) Malik Muhammad Bakhsh during raids at the Shadman, Wahdat Colony, Liberty and Township Ramazan Bazaars and retail shops on Monday.

Headed by Cantt Deputy District Officer (revenue) Rana Shaukat Mahmood, city DDO Liaquat Khaliq and senior admn officer Mudassar Waheed Malik conducted 185 raids at Ravi, Nishtar, Gulberg, Samanabad and Allama Iqbal towns, besides Shalamar Bagh area.

Another three teams sent 29 men to prison for three to seven days. A fine of Rs184,000 was imposed on yet another 56 men for selling edibles more than the prices fixed by the CDGL.
