LARKANA, Sept 17: The district council in its session on Monday called for strict action against land-grabbers who were encroaching upon graveyards in the district after levelling graves to the ground.

Acting convener Babu Serwar Siyal who presided over the session asked the district police officer of (DPO) to take measures against encroachments in Miran Shah, Channa, Dodai and Abubakar graveyards and submit a report to the council.

Iqbal Soomro, a JUI-backed member, accused the encroachers of levelling graves to the ground in the darkness of night and then occupying the graveyards. He called for constructing boundaries around the graveyards to check encroachments.

Ali Gul Sangi accused the taluka nazim and his people of encroaching upon a graveyard on the Larkana-Naudero road.

Ms Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto, Ms Naseeba Channa, Khair Mohammed Shaikh, Mashooque Jatoi, Barkat Shaikh and Iqbal Soomro regretted that the government departments were ignoring the council’s resolutions. They criticised the district nazim for neglecting members belonging to Awam Dost Panel in allocation of development schemes and complained that the members of Khushhal Pakistan Panel (KPP) had been given schemes and allocations at the cost of ADP members, they said.
