PML-N MNA gets bail in two cases

BAHAWALPUR, Sept 14: PML-N MNA and a defector of ruling party Makhdoom Syed Ali Hasan Gillani was bailed out in two criminal cases by District and Sessions Judge Maqsood Ahmad here on Friday.

In the cases instituted under 16-MPO and Section 144, Gillani was granted pre-arrest bail.

Earlier, the sessions judge heard the case against the police for allegedly keeping the opposition MNA in illegal confinement at the Samasatta police station from where the court bailiff had recovered him.

The court ordered registration of cases against two police inspectors — Asif Rashid (of Samasatta police) and Kalim Ahmad (of Ahmedpur East police) — and asked the complainant that it was his discretion if he wanted to forgive them. Ali Gillani’s counsel pardoned them.

Later, when Gillani came out of the courtroom, he after assessing the situation and presence of heavy police contingent, drew the court’s attention towards his possible arrest. The court dispatched a bailiff along with the petitioner to his home in Uch Sharif.
