KARACHI, Sept 14: Mubina Town police on Friday registered a case against unknown assailants who attacked a minibus on University Road on Thursday with gunfire and grenades, killing seven people, including four university students.

Mubina Town SHO Umer Farooq said the FIR was registered on the complaint of the driver of the G-7 route minibus, who did not identify anyone behind the attack.

Funerals of three deceased students, activists of the Islami Jamiat Talba, were offered in different parts of the city and the bodies were later flown to their native villages in the northern areas and Punjab.

The funeral prayer of Ghulam Siddiq was offered near the Dawood College of Engineering and Technology late on Thursday and the body was later flown to his native village in Gilgit, while the prayers of Imran Shahid and Atif Butt were offered at Numaish Chowrangi and Malir Khokrapar respectively on Friday.

Another victim, Kaju Habibullah, who was earlier claimed by the IJT as one of its activists, was later identified as an Imamia Students’ Organisation worker.
