KARACHI, Sept 13: The United States is open for your business whether you are a businessman, or a student, or a tourist, and the opportunities for bilateral trade between Pakistan and the US are enormous and beneficial for both the countries.

This was stated by Kay L. Anske, new US Consul General, during a luncheon meeting with Majyd Aziz, President, and members of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at the KCCI.

The US diplomat, who has returned to the metropolitan city as the consul general, added that her country had initiated a long-term programme to bring prosperity in economically depressed areas with the objective of increasing the strength of Pakistan from an economic point of view.

She said that a legislation was being prepared in the Congress and expressed the hope that the approval would be forthcoming within a couple of months.

Ms Anske, who made KCCI her first place of visit, said that it was incumbent upon the US government to inform its citizens about the prevailing environment in any foreign country. Thus the travel advisories were periodically issued.

She emphasised that a travel advisory was not a political statement but only for security purposes.—PPI
