TAXILA, Sept 13: Abductions, mostly of people connected with the medical profession, are on the rise in Wah Cantonment as three cases have been reported in the city during the current week.

In the first incident, Mohammad Aslam, the owner of Fatima Hospital, was kidnapped from GT Road when he was going to supervise an under-construction project. Four armed men bundled him into a car and fled away towards Peshawar. The Wah Cantt police have registered a case against unknown abductors on the complaint of his son Waqar Aslam.

In the second incident, the medical superintendent (MS) of Rai Memorial Hospital and a former surgeon at the POF Hospital, Dr Anwar, was abducted near Wah gardens while he was returning home in a car.

While a woman identified as Tasleem Bibi, 45, a resident of Nawababad, mysteriously disappeared after going out to purchase some medicines.

Her husband Iqbal told this reporter that he approached the police station No 2 in Wah Cantt so many times but the police were reluctant to register an FIR.

According to sources, in all the three cases the kidnappers have so far not contacted the family members of the victims.— Correspondent
