DERA GHAZI KHAN, Sept 10: A shortage of sewerage staff and mismanagement of the tehsil municipal administration (TMA) have played havoc with the entire sewerage system of the city. As a result, sewage is oozing from gutters and filling main bazaars and streets of the city.

Senior citizen Kaif Ansari said the old sewerage system was far better than the new underground system. He said the old sewerage system never choked, while the new system was constantly creating problems for the people.

Sanitary Inspector Hameed Khan said the TMA had 31 sanitary workers for the entire city and only six of them were working on main lines. He said the TMA needed at least 100 more sanitary workers to keep the city’s sewerage system in order.

Tehsil Nazim Mehmood Qadir Khan Leghari was not available for comment. — Correspondent
