TOBA TEK SINGH, Sept 9: Citizens have protested up to eight hours long power outages daily by the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) saying the situation is making their life hell.

The citizens complained the Fesco officials always turned deaf ear to their grievances and whenever the Grid Station officials contacted, they would say that main supply to Faisalabad had been disconnected and that they did not know when it would be restored.

The power outages are badly affecting children’s studies and also damaging home appliances due to sudden suspension and restoration of electricity supply and fluctuation in voltages.

The industrialists and small businessmen have also protested the situation, saying it was causing huge losses to them and plenty of daily wagers were becoming jobless owing to daylong power outages.

Similarly, owners of computer colleges and Internet cafés said the outages were hampering their business activities too.

The citizens said the holy month of Ramazan was approaching and the situation would worsen if the authorities concerned did not take quick remedial steps.

They urged President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to direct Wapda authorities to end loadshedding particularly when there was no water shortage in the country now.
