KARACHI, Sept 8: Promising Shan Masood produced an outstanding all-round performance to lead Karachi Urban to a crushing seven-wicket victory over Multan in the opening round of the PCB Regional Under-19 One-day Cricket Championship on Saturday.

The Karachi Urban skipper, who was vice-captain of the Pakistan Under-19 squad that visited England recently, returned fine figures of four for 38 in 10 overs with his off-spinners as Multan were bowled out for 188 in 49 overs after electing to bat first.

Shan then shone with the bat with a brilliant unbeaten 105 to help his side achieve victory with 12 overs to spare. The right-handed opener stroked 12 fours and a brace of sixes in his 124-ball innings.

Islamabad, Hyderabad, Lahore Ravi and Sialkot also won their matches while the game between Peshawar and Abbottabad ended in no result because of rain in the NWFP capital.

The three-day matches between these teams will start from Monday at the same venues.
