MANSEHRA, Sept 8: The government was asked on Saturday to work out an effective policy to curb the mounting wave of violent incidents of crime in the province.

The call came at a seminar which was organised by the district criminal justice coordination committee as part of a series of seminars being held in the province on the directives of the chief justice of the Peshawar High Court.

The district and sessions judges of Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Battagram, Kohistan and Shangla and district police officers, prosecution officers and investigation officers of the districts attended the seminar.Mansehra district and sessions judge Khalid Amin Khan presided over the seminar.

Speakers reviewed their past performance and highlighted the criminal justice coordination committees’ role in the dispensation of justice at the district level.

They stressed that there should be a common policy in the province to contain the crime as it was the need of the hour.

Mr Khalid Amin Khan said the main objective of the seminar was capacity building of the criminal justice coordination committees and to bridge the gap between police and judiciary as without their active cooperation crime could not be eliminated from society.
