SAHIWAL, Sept 6: Two prisoners were killed in a crossfire between their accomplices and the police during an escape bid near Kotla Adeeb Shaheed forestry, it was learnt here.
During investigation, Asad Waseem and Sakhawat Ali told the police that they had hidden arms in a forest near Kotla Adeeb Shaheed. On Tuesday night, a police team, led by SHO Muhammad Aslam Ghumman, took them to the forest. After recovery of arms, four of their accomplices opened fire on the police to get them released. During a crossfire, both the criminals alighted from the police van and ran towards their accomplices. They sustained critical injuries and were killed on the spot.
Both were also wanted in the murder case of Chichawatni Saddar police constable Muhammad Mansha.
Police have registered a case.
SUI GAS: Work for provision of Sui gas to six villages under the MNA’s grant was started on Thursday.
Reports said about 20,000 population of 4/10-L, 3/10-L, A-1/10-L, 2/10-L, 102/6AR Sukherawala and 36/14-L would benefit from the project.
MNA Rai Azizullah of Chichawatni said he was trying to secure more grant for six another villages.
