Man kills self and brother

KHANEWAL, Sept 6: A man on Thursday killed his younger brother on a monetary dispute and later killed himself also in 79/10-R, 10km from Khanewal.

Abdul Rehman asked his brother, Rashid, to lend him some money, which Rashid refused. In a fit of rage, he shot Rashid dead. Later, he killed himself with the same pistol. Police started investigation.

QADEER WINS POLLS: Detained nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan on Thursday won a “presidential referendum”, held by the Khanewal District Bar Association, defeating President Musharraf.

A large number of lawyers and litigants cast votes during the poll. Dr Qadeer bagged 879 votes while President Musharraf got only 11 votes. Lawyers also boycotted court proceedings. DBA President Chaudhry Ghulam Hussain and Secretary General said lawyers’ movement against dictatorship would continue till its end.
