RAWALPINDI, Sept 6: A young man was shot dead and his friend injured in a robbery attempt in Sadiqabad on Thursday morning, police said.

Abdul Qadir, 24, who worked at a restaurant in Islamabad and lived in Sadiqabad, was going to a hospital along with his friend Waqar Ahmed when two motorcycle riders intercepted them and asked them to surrender cash.

When the two put up resistance, the bandits opened fire on them. The injured were taken to the Rawalpindi General Hospital where Qadir was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, two brothers arrested by the Islamabad police in connection with the suicide attacks in Aabpara market and F-8 Markaz were shifted to Faisalabad jail on the directive of Punjab government on Wednesday. However, the reason behind the government’s move could not be known.

Faisal Mushtaq and Qasim Mushtaq were arrested by the Islamabad police from Bhara Kahu area and later produced before an Anti Terrorism Court judge in Rawalpindi who sent them to the Adiala jail.

Tehseen Abbasi, another suspect in the two Islamabad terrorist attacks, arrested by the capital territory police on August 28, is in the Adiala jail.

Staff Reporter from Islamabad adds: The decomposed body of an unidentified man was found near Sabzi Mandi on Thursday.

The police shifted the body to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) for pending identification and legal process. The deceased seemed to be in his 60s.
