NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Sept 6: Kandiaro police have registered a case against Mohbat Dero Union Council Nazim Abdul Ghaffar Dahraj and some other people for attacking a lawyer, Zulfiqar Jatoi.

The case was registered on the directives of the additional sessions judge against the nazim, Bali Hisbani, Mohram, Mehruddin Dilo, Deedar and Haji Hisbani. Mar Jatoi was attacked while he was returning from the court in Kandiaro with his security guard on Tuesday.

Local activists of the People’s Party Parliamentarians staged a demonstration against nomination of the nazim in the case. They claimed that Mr Dahraj had been implicated in the case because he had applied for a PPP ticket for a provincial assembly seat.

BAITUL MAAL: Baitul Maal funds will be distributed among deserving people at the union council level, it was decided at a meeting presided over by District Nazim Ghulam Rasool Jatoi here on Thursday.

The nazim said the decision had been taken to facilitate the needy people who had to go to the taluka headquarters to get financial help. Baitul Maal District Officer Jamil Ahmed Soomro informed the meeting that 13,678 people were registered in the area for assistance.

ARREST: The anti-corruption establishment has arrested an official of the irrigation department, Nusrat division, Abdar Niaz Ali Manganhar, for receiving Rs1,000 as bribe in 2001 from some growers.
