SAHIWAL, Sept 5: The staff of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) in Sahiwal, Okara, Bahawalnagar and Pakpattan would go on strike from Sept 12 in protest against a robbery at a top NBP official’s house.

NBP Officers Association, Sahiwal region, President Sultan Sikandar Kathia and General-Secretary Rana Muhammad Afzal told a press conference here on Wednesday that robbers looted NBP regional business chief Rao Abdul Rauf’s house in Okara on Sept 4. They said that robbers fled with Rauf’s official vehicle, Rs450,000 and valuables, but police was doing nothing to arrest them. They said that bank staff would also hold a demonstration outside Governor’s House and Punjab police chief’s office.

PML-N MEETING: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab President Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa held a meeting with party workers at the residence PML-N District President Malik Nadeem Kamran on Tuesday.

The meeting discussed a plan relating to the return of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif and party matters.

On this occasion, Union Council Nazims Tariq Hussain, Muhammad Tariq and Masood Anwar joined the PML-N. Workers protested when Raja Talia Saeed, brother of former state minister Raja Shahid Saeed, announced that he was going to join the Pakistan Muslim League (PML). However, Khosa said Nawaz Sharif would resolve this issue.

ROBBED: Three robbery incidents were reported here on Tuesday night.

Three robbers deprived Gul Zaman, sales manager of a cellular service provider, of Rs32,500 and cell phones. Alleged female robbers Sugra, Sajida and Azra deprived Maqsood Ahmed of Rs30,000 on gunpoint near Chak 135/9-L. Two robbers looted Hazir Ali near Chak 92/9-L.
