KARACHI, Sept 5: Two persons were killed in different incidents in the Sohrab Goth area on Wednesday, police said.

A young man was shot dead by bandits who were on a looting spree taking advantage of a traffic jam near the Sohrab Goth intersection.

Police said that one of the commuters, later identified as Bilal, put up a stiff resistance to the bandits when they were trying to deprive him of his valuables. They shot him before fleeing. The victim reportedly died before he could be taken to hospital.

In another incident also in the same area, the body of a young man was found from an apartment near Al-Asif Square. Police said the victim, identified as Muhammad Rafiq, was found dead in the apartment. The victim had torture marks on his body.

Police shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a postmortem examination.

In another incident, police found the body of a young man from a storm-water drain in Bilal Colony, North Karachi. Police said the victim, in his late 20s, was shot in the head. They shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a postmortem examination.

A young man was crushed to death by a locomotive at the Cantonment railway station on Wednesday evening.

Police said the victim, in his early 30s, was apparently trying to cross the tracks when the oncoming locomotive hit him.

His body was sent to the JPMC for legal formalities.
