KARACHI, Sept 5: After threatening two constables at gunpoint, three under-trial prisoners (UTPs) escaped from the court on Wednesday but two were later apprehended.

Mohammed Asif (son of Akhtar), Yar Mohammed (son of Moang) and Bilal (son of Naushay) are facing a dacoity case (FIR No. 251/05) registered by the ACLC in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station under Section 392/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. On Wednesday, they were brought to the City Courts bound by the same chain and in the custody of police constables Qadeer and Shakeel, to be produced in the court of a senior civil judge-8, East.

The policemen said that in a room on the court premises, they were threatened by the UTPs and two armed, unidentified outsiders. The chain was cut, allowing the UTPs to escape.

Mohammed Asif managed to escape while Yar Mohammed and Bilal were later apprehended on the court premises. The police recovered a revolver and three bullets from their possession and registered two further cases against them: FIR No. 92/07 under Section 224 and 225 of the PPC and FIR No. 93/07 under Section 13/D of the Pakistan Arms Ordinance, 1965.
