Published September 5, 2007

LAHORE, Sept 4: The Muttahida Labour Federation staged a demonstration outside the press club to protest the suspension of marriage grant for the daughters of workers and non-implementation of the minimum wages law.

The demonstrators were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans condemning the grant suspension and failure of the government to ensure the payment of minimum wages to workers.

Speaking on the occasion, Federation leaders Altaf Baloch, Muhammad Yaqub, Hanif Ramay and Muhammad Akbar said the workers were being deprived of the facilities given to them by the past governments.

They said the government had also stopped providing sewing machines and bicycles to the workers in the past.
