FC soldier killed in landmine blast

QUETTA, Sept 2: A Frontier Corps soldier was killed and three others injured in a landmine explosion in the Loti gas field area of Dera Bugti.

According to officials, the soldier was killed when a Frontier Corps vehicle hit the landmine while patrolling in the gas field area. They said it was a powerful home-made device.

The deceased soldier was identified as Abdul Raziq.

The injured were taken to Sui and later flown to the CMH in Quetta by helicopter.

Meanwhile, hundreds of telephones were disconnected in Quetta on Sunday after a cabinet, housing phone utility equipment, was blown up in the Huda area.

According to police officials, the blast occurred at about 3am on the Mano Jan Road area.

The destroyed cabinet is being replaced.
