Haaris’ 107 proves futile

Published March 15, 2002

LAHORE, March 14: A gallant knock of 107 by Haaris Ayaz narrowly failed to guide Karachi Blues to a sensational victory over Sui Gas in the National One-day Cricket Championship match at Gaddafi Stadium Thursday.

Chasing a formidable 292, the Blues were all out for 286 in 49.1 overs despite Haaris’s brilliant 94-ball cameo that was studded with 10 fours and one six.

Pacers Wasim  Khan and Abdur Rauf were instrumental in Sui Gas five-run success by taking four wickets each for 54 and 59 runs respectively.
