MQM deliberates on candidates

LAHORE, Sept 2: The Punjab organising committee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement met here on Sunday to get a feedback from district organisers about the party’s potential to field candidates for the elections.

The meeting, chaired by provincial organiser Amanullah Khan, also discussed various organisational issues. The MQM has already extended the date for the aspirants to send applications till Sept 5.

Meanwhile, in a resolution the Punjab committee expressed its grief over the death of the mother of senior MQM leader Saleem Shahzad who has been living in exile since June 1992. —Correspondent
