HANGU: Two rockets found in Hangu

HANGU, Sept 2: Bomb disposal squads of police and the army found two rockets in the mountains near the Darsamand village here on Sunday, and were trying to defuse them, officials said.

They said the Hangu police called the bomb disposal squad after receiving information about the rockets. Sources said the rockets had been stored in the mountains for attacking an army fort in Tank district’s Thall town.

They said the Thall town was in the grip of tension because of a dispute between local people and Palosin Wazir tribesmen of lower Kurram Agency over demarcation of land in the area. The two sides have occupied positions on hilltops.

District police officer Ghulam Mohammad Khan said the people of Thall and the Palosin Wazirs had taken hostage a number of people from the rival side. He said tension in the area mounted after an agreement between the two groups expired.

MAN KILLED: A man was killed and another injured when some people opened fire on them in the Darsamand village on Saturday night.

Officials said Ayaz and his friend Hayat Khan were out in the fields in the night for quail hunting when they were attacked. Ayaz died on the spot and Hayat was injured.
