LARKANA, Sept 2: A man killed his sister, a mother of five, and another man suspecting them of having illicit relations in the Phulpota village on the outskirts of Naudero, some 30 kilometre from here, on Sunday.
Reports said that Zahid Shaikh first killed Mazhar, son of Mohammed Punhal Shaikh, and then went to the house of his sister, Zahida Shaikh. As he entered the house shouting “kari, kari” he saw her sister having lunch with her husband, Shaman. She made a last effort to escape but by then his brother had opened fire after pushing her husband aside.
Mohammed Punhal, father of Mazhar Shaikh, registered an FIR at the Ketti Mumtaz police station against Zahid Shaikh insisting that his son was innocent while Shaman, Zahida’s husband, said that she was not ‘kari’.
MURDER: The old tribal rivalry between Khuhros’ and Gaads claimed two more lives on Sunday when armed men of Gaad tribe killed Nazeer alias Bhaidino Khuhro in Akil village after hearing news about the murder of Datardinno Gaad who was killed the same day in Dhabeji, Karachi.
STRIKE: The traders in Shahdadkot observed complete shutter-down and staged a procession on Sunday on the call given by the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) in protest against long spells of power outages and low pressure of gas.
The procession marched on the main thoroughfares of the town before terminating at ‘Koto-Moto’ Chowk.
The protesters criticised Hesco for unannounced load-shedding and the Sui gas company for low pressure of gas. Their requests for improving gas pressure and stopping unscheduled power outages had landed on deaf ears, they complained.
APC: An All-Party Conference (APC) held in Qambar town on Sunday formed ‘People’s Alliance’ aimed at taking a united stand against deteriorating law and order and sale of narcotics in the town.
The representatives of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Sindh Tarqqi Pasand Party, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam and Jamaat-i-Islami who attended the conference expressed concern over poor state of law and order in the district.
They pointed out that the appointments on political grounds had weakened the police department and the policemen, despite having in the know of criminals, preferred not to take any action against them. They said that the newly formed alliance would launch protests on Sept 7.
