OKARA, Sept 1: A former member of the National Assembly (MNA), his brother, two union council nazims and a female member of the district council on Saturday quit the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML) and joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Former MNA Rao Qaisar Ali Khan, his brother Rao Safdar Ali Khan, Union Council Nazims Mirza Ali Raza and Malik Muhammad Ahmed and District Council Member Munawwar Amir announced their decision at a press conference at the residence of PML-N District President Mian Muhammad Zaman.

Rao Safdar contested the last election for a National Assembly seat from the PML platform.

Speaking on the occasion, Mian Zaman said in the last election PML-N had made an adjustment with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Rao Sikandar Iqbal at the local level, but he later joined hands with President Pervez Musharraf. He said this time PML-N would not make any such adjustment with Iqbal.

Zaman, who is also former state minister, said the Okara PML-N would lead a convoy of 100 buses to Islamabad to welcome Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif, adding that a ‘mass mobilisation’ campaign in this regard had been started.

Punjab Assembly Member Mian Yawar Zaman, PML-N Deepalpur President Mian Sharif Zafar Joyia, PML-N Okara General-Secretary Syed Zahid Ali Gillani and lawyer Manzoor Sipra were also present.
