KARACHI, Aug 31: Opener Shakir Afridi smashed a brilliant unbeaten century in Zone-VI Blues’ eight-wicket win against Zone-I Greens in a KCCA Inter-zonal Under-15 Cricket Championship match at the Student Ground on Thursday.

Shakir struck 12 boundaries and a six in his knock of 100 not out as Zone-VI Blues reached the modest target of 167 for the loss of two wickets in the 28th over. Earlier, Zone-I Greens, batting first, made 165 before being dismissed in 46 overs. Danyal Faisal (50) was the highest scorer.

Meanwhile, Zone-II Blues trounced Zone-VII Greens by seven wickets in a low-scoring game at the KCCA Stadium.

In another match, played at the Asifabad Ground, Zone-III Blues beat Zone-VII Blues by six wickets, mainly due to off-spinner Zarnab Intizar (4-21) and left-arm spinner Faizullah (3-2) heroic efforts with the leather.
