Rashid shines with hat-trick

LAHORE, Aug 28: A hat-trick by Rashid Khan helped Pak Friends crush last year’s runners-up Wohaib Club 3-0 in the national Under-18 football championship at the Raiders Club ground on Tuesday.

After a barren first half, Rashid struck in the 48th, 69th and 74th minute to complete the treble.

In a Group ‘D’ encounter, Pak Punjab overcame Fata 2-1.

The winners went ahead in the 16th minute through Asim Mansoor before Fata midfielder Rashid Ali levelled the score in the 29th minute.

Pak Punjab’s winger Shahid Zameer restored the lead two minutes later.

Faisalabad Yellow defeated Sindh 3-1 in Group ‘A’ match at the Model Town Football Club ground.

Faisalabad midfielder Luqman opened the scoring in the sixth minute, while his team-mate Nauman Butt found the cage in the 7th and 29th minute. Sindh’s winger Sarmad scored the consolation goal in the 57th minute.

Wednesday’s fixtures:

Pak Friends v Faisalabad Yellow;

PMC v Islamabad; Sindh v Wohaib Club; Model Town v Fata; Balochistan v Faisalabad Whites; Afghan FC v Northern Areas.
