NAWABSHAH, Aug 28: Re-cent rain has damaged the building of Government Primary School Syedabad, Linepar area. The only Sindhi medium school in old Nawabshah established in 1948, and completed in 1965 covered the educational needs of adjoining villages, including Trey Water, Gas Stop and Janib Khaskheli with a strength of over 600 boys and girls.

Three of five classrooms had been badly damaged during recent rainfall. Students and teachers miraculously escaped as plaster of roofs fell inside classrooms.

The iron bars used in the RCC structure can be seen in all three rooms and children being taught in corridor in double shifts. The school had a neat and clean atmosphere, colourful building with computer laboratory which was made possible through the SMC funds by the school administration.

Syed Ashiq Ali Shah, Headmaster said the matter was reported to the EDO Education and district Nazim but none had as yet visited the school or ordered its repair.

He further informed that more than 100 girl students migrated to other schools due to dilapidated condition of building.

Teachers and students demanded of the District Nazim, Faryal Talpur and the DCO to visit school and direct the Education Works Department for its immediate repair.

Load-shedding: Unan-nounced load-shedding since last one week by Hesco is causing hardships for the citizens of Nawabshah district affecting life and business activities and water shortage.

The three grid stations were conducting almost 8-10 hours load-shedding on each feeder of the city and of other towns on daily basis. The two schemes supplying drinking water also got disturbed.

An official at a grid station on condition of anonymity said they were carrying out 3-4 hours load-shedding at each feeder as per schedule on the orders of Regional Control Centre and Power Dispatch Centre Jamshoro as they were bound to follow orders.

He said only hospital feeder was excluded from load-shedding but gets affected when orders come from the RCC or the DPC.

Meanwhile, hundreds of residents of Daur Town took out a rally and staged demonstration against shortage of water due to low voltage, on Tuesday.

The rally started from the Station Road. Protesters were carrying placards and banners and raising slogans against Hesco.
