KARACHI, Aug 28: The prosecutor-general of Sindh, Dr Rana Mohammed Shamim, on Tuesday had a meeting with inspector-general of Sindh Zia-ul-Hasan at the Central Police Office.

The meeting was also attended by CCPO Azhar Ali Farooqi, AIG (Investigation) Zafar Ahmed Farooqi, DIG (HQ) Waseem Ahmed, DIG (Investigation) Akhtar Hussain Memon and investigation officers from all Sindh districts.

On the occasion, the IG directed all the investigation police officers to remain in contact with their respective district public prosecutors/district public prosecutors and hold meetings with them.

The IG asked the officers to prepare challans with professionalism and honesty, re-checked by senior officials and thereafter scrutinised by officials of prosecutor-general and then submitted in the courts so that offenders were convicted and justice provided to the aggrieved.

The police officers were directed to fully cooperate with the prosecutor-general and keep their expert opinion in mind while preparing the challan.

Dr Rana Mohammed Shamim briefed the meeting on the setting up of offices of the prosecutor-general, their scope of working and responsibilities.

He said the offices of the prosecutor-general of Sindh had been established for helping

the police to facilitate the dispensation of justice and court process.

He said the establishment of the offices would help promote understanding between police and courts, and timely court decisions could be ensured.—APP
