KARACHI, Aug 27: History is likely to be created when two North Korean ping pong coaches arrive in Pakistan some time in October on a one-year coaching assignment to train the country’s paddlers for international events including the 11th South Asian Games slated at Dhaka in 2009.

“Yes, it is the first time that North Korean table tennis coaches are coming to Pakistan,” president, Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF), S.M. Sibtain, told Dawn on Monday.

The coaches are identified as Jon Bong Su and Li Huang IL.

Sibtain said PTTF has forwarded the resume of the two coaches to PSB/PST who will jointly bear their expenses.

Previously, the PTTF used to acquire the services of Chinese coaches either directly or through the PSB for the coaching assignments. Their grooming had immensely raised the level of Pakistani players who were among top six in Asia in the past.—Sports Correspondent
