Nawaz, Sajjad slam double tons

KARACHI, Aug 27: A superb century by Pakistan Under-19 batsman Ali Asad guided Zone-II to 262 against Zone-V in a Karachi region match of the PCB Inter-district Senior Cricket Championships at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground on Monday.

Asad struck 16 boundaries and two sixes in making an unbeaten 156 off 246 balls.

But Peshawar’s Nawaz Ahmed and Sajjad Ahmed stole the first day’s honours with scintillating double centuries against Swat at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar.

Nawaz blasted 36 fours in scoring 218 off 225 balls while skipper Sajjad hit 23 fours and one six in remaining unbeaten with 200 off 201 deliveries as Peshawar piled up a mammoth 555 for three in the stipulated 80 overs. The pair added 357 for the third wicket.
