LAHORE, Aug 27: One person sustained minor injuries while machinery and valuables were gutted in three different fire incidents in the city on Monday. Valuables and machinery worth Rs3 million were reduced to ashes when a fire broke out in New Balochistan Glass Unit-III of Waqar Lodhi at Rachna Block in Kot Abdul Malik. Rescue officials said a short-circuit caused the eruption of the fire that engulfed the unit in no time.

Employee Faqir Husain of Lodhran sustained minor injures.

The Rescue firefighting trucks and city fire-brigade units extinguished the fire in about four hours.

In another incident, a fire broke out in Aslam’s house in Kareem Block of Iqbal Town, gutting valuables worth Rs100,000.

Edhi officials said the fire erupted when the minor son of Aslam threw a burning matchstick in the store. It took nearly one hour to fire tenders to douse the flames.

A gas pipeline caught fire owing to leakage in the Bhati Gate area.

STOLEN: Five cars were stolen in the city on Monday, one each from North Cantonment, Ghalib Market, Gulberg, Defence and Islampura. Two motorcycles were taken away from Gulberg, while as many motorcycles were stolen from Civil Lines and Defence areas.
