GUJRAT, March 13: The Punjab government has approved Rs50 million for laying a new sewerage system in Gujrat.

This was stated by district Nazim Chaudhry Shafaat Husain while talking to newsmen here on Wednesday.

He said the district council had sent a proposal to the higher authorities in this regard and received an approval letter recently.

Monitoring teams would be formed to check the standard of the construction, he concluded.

The bandits forced their entry into the house of Dr Arshad Chishti and decamped with 78 tolas of gold ornaments, Rs75,000 in cash and prize bonds worth Rs32,000.

DOCTORS’ RECRUITMENT: The local health authorities have sought applications from doctors to fill in 21 vacancies, it is learnt.

Ten posts of lady doctors, 14 of male doctors and seven of dental surgeons have been lying vacant in several hospitals and rural health centres (RHCs).

PPP ON ALLIANCE: The Pakistan People’s Party will not form any alliance with any party in the forthcoming elections.

This was stated by former central secretary-general Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar while talking to newsmen.

He said the newly formed faction of the PML known as the PML(QA) did not have any influence in the politics.
