The chief engineer said the project, which started its operation in Aug 19, 2003, had five power generating units and each had a rated capacity of 290MW.

He said the project in total had an unchanged generating capacity of 1450MW which was the second biggest source of power generation on Indus River.

Mr Khan said the Ghazi Brotha project was being fed by a 52km-long concreted power channel that was carrying 56,000 cusecs of water constantly from the barrage built near Tarbela dam on run-of-the-river technique and the used water of the Tarbela power house was being reutilised for the project.

He said the electricity generated from the project was being supplied to Lahore, Rawat, Gatti, Faisalabad and Peshawar through 500KV and 220KV lines.
