DADU, Aug 25: Flood-affected villagers demonstrated in Khairpur Nathan shah on Friday to protest against the unfair distribution of relief goods, non-plugging of breaches in the main Nara Valley drain and broken roads.

Residents of 40 villages, including Mado, Kario, Gachal, Buriro, Bego Dero and other villages participated in the demonstration.

Village leader Riaz Chandio alleged that the district administration had distributed relief goods only among influential people, which were then sold to shopkeepers. He said the poor people were facing extreme hardships due to the unfair distribution of relief items.

Mr Chandio alleged that the survey of affected villages had been carried out on the basis of politics and a large number of affected people had not received government relief. He appealed to the prime minister to take notice of the injustice being meted out to the common people.
