ISLAMABAD, Aug 24: Dozens of seminary students Friday held protest demonstration at Aabpara Chowk and demanded reopening of the Lal Masjid.

The protesting students were chanting pro-Jihad slogans and for the release Maulana Abdul Aziz. They were also condemning the government for conducting operation against Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa. Talking to reporters they demanded of the authorities to re-open the mosque for performing Juma prayers.

They also demanded reappointment of Maulana Abdul Aziz as Khateeb of Lal Masjid.

“We don’t want confrontation with the administration but just want that the mosque be opened for the people to perform Juma prayers as we love the mosque”, said Mohammad Haroon, former student of the Lal Masjid. “This never happens in any Muslim country to shut doors of the mosque and bar citizens from performing prayer in a mosque”, he added.—PPI
