LAHORE, Aug 23: The Punjab government is considering convening a session of the provincial assembly to ensure the presence of all MPAs on the day of the presidential re-election.

Official sources said on Thursday the date of the commencement of the session would be announced after approval by Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi.

They said the decision to convene a session of the assembly was taken after realising that it would otherwise be difficult to ensure the presence of all (government) MPAs in the assembly on the day of the election.

The one attraction for presence in Lahore on the day of election during the assembly session would be the transport and daily allowance which the members could not get otherwise, officials said.

They said the authorities concerned were preparing a formal agenda for the session which would include around eight bills already introduced in the house.
