HYDERABAD, Aug 22: The Hyderabad District Bar Association has condemned the Sindh government’s decision to withdraw police guards for judges and termed it an undue pressure on the judiciary.

Talking to PPI at the HDBA office, secretary general of the Bar Noorul Haq Qureshi said that the decision had created sense of insecurity in the judiciary and added that he saw malafide intentions of the government behind the decision.When asked whether he held Sindh Home Adviser Wassem Akhtar responsible for making the decision, Mr Qureshi said that the adviser was a part of the Sindh government therefore the entire government was responsible for it. However, he added that the adviser belonged to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement which had been accused of being involved in 12 May Karachi killings and a case about the tragedy was being heard by the Sindh High Court therefore they felt that the putting pressure on the judges was related to that case.

The lawyers’ leader said that the Sindh government wanted face saving as it had also been accused of being involved in the May 12 incidents. Demanding withdrawal of the decision, he said that lawyers of Sindh were waiting for directives from the Supreme Court Bar Association and Sindh Bar Council about a collective reaction.
