PML-N open to alliance with PPP

Published August 23, 2007

CHARSADDA, Aug 22: Pakistan Muslim League (N) secretary-general Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said his party would consider forming an alliance with the Pakistan People’s Party if it refrains from striking a deal with the Musharraf regime.

Talking to journalists here on Wednesday, Mr Jhagra said it was a positive development that many PML(Q) members were eager to join the PML(N).

He said the party’s central committee would consider the names of only those individuals who were opposed to the re-election of Gen Musharraf as president from the present assemblies.

He claimed that Nawaz Sharif did not order the attack on the Supreme Court building but rather it was the secret agencies who had committed the act to malign the PML (N) leadership.
