Girl dies in road crash

CHAKWAL, Aug 19: A teenaged girl was killed on Sunday in a road accident near Rama village some 30km from Chakwal, police said.

Col (retired) Dr Hamid Mukhtar Shah, a renowned kidney specialist, along with his family was travelling to Rawalpindi after attending a wedding function in Faisalabad when a wagon rammed into his car near a level crossing. As a result, Dr Shah’s granddaughter was killed on the spot, while the physician sustained multiple injuries. The accident victim was taken to DHQ hospital Chakwal where doctor, after giving him first aid, referred him to the RGH.—Online
