KARACHI, Aug 18: The judicial magistrate-6, Malir, Afzal Ahmed Durrani, on Saturday remanded five activists of the Awami National Party in police custody till Aug 22. The accused are Khanzada, son of Aqal Zada; Zubair, son of Misal Khan; Mohammad Nazir, son of Mohammad Farid; Imtiaz, son of Niaz Mohammad; and Bashir, son of Sher Bahadur.

They were arrested by the police on Aug 17 in a taxi while they were on their way to Landhi after a protest procession in Saddar. According to police, various kinds of weapons were seized.

Cases against them under Section 13-D of the Arms Ordinance were registered by the police in Malir City police station.
