Woman seeks protection

DADU, Aug 17: A woman Rubina Bhurgari, resident of village Lakhmir, district Nawabshah, here on Friday reached Dadu town police station and demanded protection from her husband.

Ms Rubina, along with her minor daughter, Rehana, sought protection at Dadu town police station.

She informed the police that her husband Akbar Bhurgari was trying to kill her when she refused to have illicit relations with other persons.

She said she managed to escape from their house in absence of her husband.

The woman said that she was ten-year-old when her father sold her for Rs4,000 to her husband.

The woman has four children from her husband. She appealed the police authorities to take action against him, otherwise he would kill her.

SHO Dadu, Mohammad Ayoub Brohi told Dawn that Ms Rubina had also filed an application in the family court for dissolution of marriage. He said that police had provided her protection.

DROWNED: Two women Shani Lund 47, and Bachal Lund 50, both residents of village Poti Lund, taluka Johi, drowned in Kari wah near their village, when they were crossing the wah. Area people fished out their bodies after hectic efforts.
