LARKANA, Aug 17: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sukkur Mohammad Bachal Sangri has expressed his ignorance on whereabouts of Ali Akbar Khokar who disappeared after his arrest and sought time to trace and produce him before Sindh High Court, Circuit Bench, Larkana.

The RPO sought 15 days to trace the detainee but the court asked him to produce the disappeared man on next hearing i.e., Aug 24.

DPO Jacobabad Munir Khuhro who failed to appear in court on Aug 16 hearing submitted an unconditional apology.

Mehar Khatoon Khokar, mother of Ali Akbar, resident of Allahwarayo Mashi village near Naudero, in her petition stated that the Jacobabad Police arrested her son and four others about two and a half months back. She located him at the Mouladad Police Station, Jacobabad, and approached all concerned to get him freed but in vain. Finally she moved the court.

SHO Mohammad Ibrahim Soomro could not appear as he was behind the bars, the RPO said and sought time for locating the villager.

Justice Amir Muslim Hani heard the petition and adjourned the matter till Aug 24 with instructions to RPO Sukkur to produce the villager in the court on that date.

The case first came up for hearing before Sindh High Court, Circuit Bench, Larkana on Aug 8 when the DPO Larkana was asked about ensuring registration of FIR against the SHO of Mouladad Police Station, Jacobabad for keeping Ali Akbar Khokhar in illegal confinement.

Subsequently, the SHO was arrested on Aug 9 and the civil judge Ratodero remanded him in police custody for seven days. Sindh High Court, Circuit Bench Larkana on Aug 10 gave six days to the district police officer Jacobabad to trace and produce Ali Akbar Khokhar in the court.

Meanwhile the RPO Sukkur had transferred the case registered with the Naudero Police against the SHO Mouladad Police Station and 31 others to the Investigation Police Shikarpur and placed the SHO under suspension.
