MANSEHRA, Aug 17: The paramedical staff of Mansehra district called off their strike on Friday after the executive district officer (health) decided to withdraw charges against four of their colleagues, said reliable sources.

The decision to end the strike was taken after a meeting between officials of the district administration and representatives of the Paramedical Association of Mansehra.

Representatives of the district government assured the paramedical staff that the executive district officer in question, who had already been transferred from Mansehra to Haripur, would drop charges and all the cases filed against the leaders of the association would be withdrawn.

After calling off the strike, all the paramedics resumed work at the District Headquarters Hospital Mansehra, tehsil hospitals in Oghi and Balakot and all basic health units throughout the district.

The Friday meeting was attended by District Council convener Mufti Kafayatullah, convener of health committee, union nazim Basharat Ali and MS District Headquarters Hospital Dr Niaz Ali and the Paramedical Association’s suspended president Khalid Khan.
