KARACHI, Aug 17: An Anti-terrorism Court on Friday recorded statements of three prosecution witnesses, including two police officials, in a kidnapping case of an SSC student Rashid, son of Qadir Bux Brohi, who was kidnapped on Nov 15, 2006.

Judge Haq Nawaz Baloch of ATC-V, who is conducting the trial, recorded the deposition of a police inspector Zafar Iqbal, who had arrested the accused Sheraz Ahmed, son of A. D. Shahid, and Qari Ghulam Yaseen on Feb 28, 2007 from their residence in Ajmer Nagri.

The court also recorded the statement of a sub-inspector Manzoor Ahmed and a private witness Mohammad Hanif. The police officer said that the accused wore police uniform while committing a crime. He said that their accomplices Zahoor Ahmed Shah and Ghalib were absconding.

According to the prosecution, the accused after kidnapping Rashid kept him somewhere in the limits of Manghopir police station. An FIR 147/06 under Section 365 -A/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code was registered against them at the Manghopir police station.
