JACOBABAD, Aug 13: An official fact-finding team has accused the Civil Hospital authorities of giving away Hepatitis-C vaccines on ‘political grounds’. The team inspected the hospital records on Monday.

The team comprising provincial coordinator of Anti-Hepatitis Programme, Dr Zulfiqar Ali Gorar, deputy director Dr Hassan Murad Shah and deputy director Dr Salma Bozdar expressed its displeasure and said that the registered patients would face difficulties getting their next dose.

The team said that the hospital should have given the vaccines to the deserving patients rather than giving them away on political grounds.

Civil Surgeon Dr Ghulam Mustafa Baloch said that vaccines were distributed among deserving patients but admitted that some were given on political grounds.

The team visited the hospital after complaints by District Coordination Officer Dr Naveed Ahmed Chaudhry to the director general of Health Services Sindh.

The team asked the civil surgeon not to purchase vaccines in the local market.

It raided a medical store and found that the vaccines had not been kept in required temperature.

BOY DROWNS: A 10-year-old boy, Sajjad Hussain, drowned in Moosa Allahabad Canal near Thull on Monday while his friends Naseer Ahmed, 8, and Junaid, 7, were rescued by villagers.

The three boys were swimming in the canal when they accidentally went into deep waters and started drowning.

Their cries brought the villagers to their rescue who could manage to save Naseer Ahmed and Junaid while Sajjad drowned.
